    Award Winning Creative Design

    01/08/2023

Our client the University of Exeter are proud winners of the Creativity in Catering and Retail CUBO (College & University Business Officers) award, and the TUCO (The University Catering Organisation) Innovation Award in Residential and Campus Services, we are absolutely thrilled to be the agency who designed, developed and mobilised the Forum Kitchen brand for them.

A brand identity is more than just a logo, our creative approach needed to consider the institution, the venue itself, existing university brand hierarchies, including third party brands, a wide shopper demographic, experiences, and desired commercial outcomes.

The abstract make up of the graphic icon is contemporary, and illustrates ‘a coming together’, conversation, debate, learning, inclusivity and diversity. The colours have been influenced by Exeter’s student colour palette, and have been strategically chosen to compliment other branded catering and retail areas within the university. The square shape of the icon uses a mixture of hard angles and curves which identify with the overall structure of the building.

The font shape is elegant, yet commands its presence underneath the icon, the fonts name is ‘Opinion’ which is perfect for Forum Kitchens new identity. It is contemporary and has a nice balance to the eye which creates a stylish connection with the graphic icon.

The entire design foundations for this identity were influenced by the universities 2020/2030 strategy ‘Together we create the possible.

Forum kitchen is now a vibrant community hub offering inclusive and sustainable menus at affordable prices. Since opening, there have been over 70,000 transactions and future developments include event hire to build revenue.
