    Designing For Nando’s

    03/11/2023

Restaurant design has evolved so much over the years, timber domination and earthy colour palettes are now more colourful and vibrant, this major design change has been hugely influenced by designers creating design styles where individual elements are never the same. This approach forces designers to reinvent the interior design wheel every time, it’s a design challenge that has kept the Nando’s brand looking fresh and innovative, whilst always retaining its now famous brand identity.

Recycled or reclaimed materials have never been so in scope, and can be seen absolutely everywhere in Nando’s, playing a pivotal role in the interior design schemes, offering a reclaimed, refurbished affect that often provide the ‘WOW’ that customers remember and talk about.

There are a magnitude of different patterns in a Nando’s, which on paper would read hideously, but in practice work together to create an overall intended design scheme, that works. There should always be an interior something inside a Nando’s which people love, which will always help the food taste better, or the service to be revered as suitable, all created through design!

Nando’s do lots of things well, from an interior design perspective they do things wonderfully well, as designers ourselves we just love the way location has been deeply thought through and realised through subtle design elements. Such as the pipework at Coventry inspired by the cathedrals organ, or the Limerick furniture colour palette representing the Irish flag, a true masterclass in how to create a plausible rationale giving the design a platform to perform from.
