The Global Tipping Points project, led by Professor Tim Lenton from the University of Exeter’s Global Systems Institute, is an ambitious research initiative supported by over 200 researchers from 90 organisations in 26 countries. The project addresses critical global environmental challenges and was launched at COP28 to reach an international audience. As the design lead, we developed the brand identity, website, and communications for this groundbreaking initiative, ensuring that the visual and digital presence was impactful, accessible, and aligned with the urgency of the project’s mission.

Our approach to the Global Tipping Points project was to create a brand identity that would resonate with a global audience and reflect the project’s scientific expertise and collaborative nature. The brand elements, including logo design, colour scheme, and typography, were chosen to convey clarity, urgency, and unity. The website was designed to serve as a comprehensive resource, hosting research findings, data, and event information, with an intuitive structure to facilitate engagement from scientists, policymakers, and the general public.

The website serves as a central platform for the Global Tipping Points project, housing essential resources for global users and providing a visually engaging overview of key findings. With future scalability in mind, we designed the website to be easily updated with new data, research outputs, and conference materials as the project evolves. Additionally, we crafted digital assets for social media, newsletters, and presentations at major events such as COP28 and subsequent conferences. This strategy ensured that Global Tipping Points maintains a cohesive presence across multiple platforms and media.

The Global Tipping Points team at the University of Exeter was highly impressed with the branding and website, noting that it effectively communicates the project’s global importance and scientific credibility. The branding was well-received at COP28, where it helped capture the attention of policymakers, researchers, and environmental advocates. The client values our ongoing collaboration, as we continue to support Global Tipping Points and the University of Exeter with new communications and website updates for upcoming conferences and global events, solidifying its impact as a vital resource in the climate action landscape.
